WOMEN'S JOURNEY TO EQUALITY
Their thirst for freedom remained incomplete,
Their voices were hidden somewhere deep,
Until one day they gathered their courage
And decided to speak
They were brave,
They were persistent
They were the women who fought with great strength
They were the women to bring us where we are today
Walking along the path of life,
We’ve seemed to have forgotten,
Forgotten to be grateful,
To be proud of what we possess
We need to recall those difficult times,
The 1920’s was a time of change,
When women raised high,
Several hardships came their way,
Along the way they have stumbled,
Been pricked with thorns, scorned,
And fell over,
Yet these women overcame any obstacle
They were tired of being bound at home,
Tired of being considered weaker,
Tired of being underestimated,
A woman was not just meant to spend her days serving her family,
If given the opportunity, they could accomplish great deeds
Those women set out for their dreams,
They wanted an opportunity to prove themselves
To prove their worthiness,
They longed to stand at the same position as men
After much patience and effort,
This dream was accomplished
No longer were women considered any less,
No longer would they hope for independence
It was a joyous day when women stepped forward to take their vote
A new experience, a new beginning,
Another step on the valley of change
Until one day they gathered their courage
Their voices were hidden somewhere deep
Their thirst for freedom remained incomplete
